We reviewed the smaller 40 inch Samsung UE40F6320 here, and liked it so much that we decided to stick with Samsung when we upgraded the big TV in our front room. Here is our honest review of this TV.
Samsung UE48H6670 48 Inch LED TV Review
UE48H6670 installed and ready to go
This large TV has a fantastic HD picture with vivid colours and deep blacks, and looks absolutely stunning. Non HD channels are however really beginning to suffer, probably simply down to the physical size of this TV.
HD: Excellent. Sharp contrast, bright colours, deep blacks, no noticeable frame drop or stutter. Fantastic quality for a TV of this size and price.
Standard definition: the size of this TV really shows up the intrinsic poorer quality of SD channels – a full HD subscription is a must!
Surprisingly rich and good dynamic range. Considered pairing it with a sound-bar, but it honestly doesn’t need it for ordinary TV viewing, although I would suggest this would be a benefit for watching movies.
UE48H6670 initial setup is slick and easy and takes only a few seconds
This TV oozes class as soon as you take it out fo the box. Solid, stylish and tastefully un-flashy, it will look good in any environment. The set-up is straightforward and well designed – you will be up and running and connected to your TV feed within a few seconds, and even connected to the internet to access the SMART features within a few minutes.
This TV comes with an extra SMART remote controller that includes a mouse pad. This is a nice little feature and means you can actually use the internet features such as the browser without the usual hassle of messing about with pointer controls.
A solid 5 out of 5.
4 HDMI ports, 2 SCART, 3 USB ports and all the usual other stuff, all located in an easy to access position on the back right of the TV. Using the HDMI cable to connect to our TV input offered the nice feature of displaying the name of the input on that HDMI channel – no more guessing between HDMI1 and HDMI2 when switching between devices!
Like it’s smaller brother, This is where this TV really comes into its own. The Smart features include the usual stuff such as the BBC iPlayer, Channel 4 On Demand, ITV Player and the Channel 5 player, but the real winner (again like it’s smaller brother) is the inclusion of subscription services such as Netflix and even Amazon Movies, all via the SMART button the remote controls. These feature are not included in other TV makes (although you can access the services via a browser). It’s such a great feature of the Samsung range.
The”SMART” button on each remote initially opens up a border at the bottom of the screen showing you the last few SMART features you used, which is a fantastic feature. It couldn’t be simpler and should even be appropriate for an older user who perhaps does not feel comfortable with the SMART features.
If you are looking for a SMART TV then I honestly doubt you can do better that this. 5 out of 5.
UE48H6670 SMART apps
This TV also comes with full 3D and two sets of 3D glasses. As with the UE40H6670, it seems to work well, but as I am not a fan of this technology I very rarely (if ever) use it.
Due to its light weight and standard fixings, the Samsung proved a very easy television to install onto its own mounting stand which looks slick and sophisticated. Overall it took approximate 20 minutes to unpack and install. The TV is light enough for one person to set it up, despite its size.
The various connectors are all logically groups, there are LOTS of the, and they have all been placed in reachable positions on the right hand side.
The network installation is virtually automatic, I’ve installed this with a direct connection to my internet router and it really could not have been more easy to get this SMART features up and running.
Overall a very easy TV to unpack and setup.
Value for Money
At the time of writing this TV cost £499 from Amazon. For the quality of picture and sound provided this is excellent value. The Smart functions, together with 3D means that this television provides excellent value for money.

An excellent TV for the money. Highly recommended. The smart features are genuinely useful provided you can get a good connection to your router. A pleasure to review.
